Our Story

Campfire Pottery is a collaboration by the Camps, a husband and wife ceramic design team centered around creating a collection of ceramic heirlooms designed to inspire the art of entertaining in the home.

Kristen and Joe’s ethos is to create contemporary ceramic designs that bring people together, inside and outdoors. Campfire is not only their name, but a visual representation of their roots and brand identity. A campfire is the oldest act of human-gathering. It also symbolizes the outdoor environment where their Raku (Japanese-style ceramic process) is executed.

Their goal is to share their love of traveling, cooking, and entertaining through their collection of high-end, handmade ceramics.

The Campfire Pottery production studio is nestled in on their property in Gray, Maine where they make all of the pottery by hand.

Our Team

KRISTEN CAMP

Founder + Creative Director

A beam of sunshine, who can always be spotted with a cup of perfectly measured pour-over coffee. Kristen is the designer and maker behind Campfire Pottery, as well as the Creative Director of the brand. She is the visionary behind developing each collection, and is often scheming about the next design or technique for her team to explore. When she’s not behind the pottery wheel, Kristen is tending to her field of flowers.

JOE CAMP

Co-Founder, Research + Development

Not your average Joe, a jack of all trades, and a problem solving master. Joe not only keeps our books, but he helps turn the Campfire Pottery vision into reality. He is a huge part of the development of new designs, trouble shooting, and finding the most efficient ways of producing our pieces. When he’s not in the pottery studio, Joe can be found in his kitchen making the most delicious (and beautiful) handmade pasta for family and friends.

MONICA HAGEN

Production Potter

An eye for detail, a smile that lights up the room, and always up for learning how to throw a new shape. Monica is one of our production potters, who spends a lot of her time throwing, trimming, finishing, and glazing our pieces. She is very talented and her warm personality makes her a joy to be around. When Monica isn’t in the studio, she can be found reading her 99th romance novel of the year.
